Orientation/Approach

My therapy practice combines both traditional talk therapy approaches and complementary techniques that focus on using creativity, empowerment, movement and music for health and wellness. I have extensive experience helping individuals, couples, families and groups. Some of the concerns that people see me about include anxiety, career dissatisfaction, chronic pain/illness, co-dependency, creative blocks, depression, grief/loss, intimacy issues, life transitions, low self-esteem, parenting difficulties, relationship conflicts, stress management/relaxation and traumatic experiences.

Qualifications

I received my Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University.  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Therapist in EMDR from EMDRIA. I hold a training Certificate in Object Relations Psychotherapy, with couples and families, from The Metropolitan Institute, as well as a Coherent Breathing Practitioner. My professional memberships include The New Jersey Society for Clinical Social Work (NJSCSW), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA), and Music for People (MFP).

Music Bio

Music can be a wonderful creative outlet for health, wellness and self-expression and is accessible for most everyone. I hold a Certification for Music Improvisation Facilitation from Music For People. As a classically trained flautist and multi-instrumentalist, I use music and sound in conjunction with conferences, dance, meditation, mindfulness, poetry, spoken word and yoga. I participate as a member with several music improvisation ensembles, as well as facilitating community open flute and music circles.

Consultation

I offer social work and employee assistance consultation, presentations and trainings for helping professionals and human service organizations My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based, balanced and culturally responsive practice. Social work consultation provides professional specialized guidance to individuals, organizations, or practitioners to improve client outcomes, enhance clinical skills, and navigate complexity.
